PROTECT YOUR DELIVERY WITH MARITIME MADNESS EXTENDED SHIPPING PROTECTION
There’s no need to wait weeks for claims to be processed by couriers - protect your parcel with just 2% of the contents value and we’ll offer you a refund or replacement right away.
WHAT WE DEEM AS LOST:
- Shipment states ‘delivered’ but you have not received it. Depending on where you live, we ask that you allow up to 3 business days for your parcel to be delivered. Sometimes the courier prematurely marks it as delivered and tries a redelivery, it turns up in a secure location at your property or it may be at your neighbours.
- Your tracking has not updated for 2 weeks from the ship date.
We reserve the right to class this as a ‘delay’ in high volume shipping times such as Black Friday and Christmas.
WHAT WE DEEM AS DAMAGED:
- Items arrive damaged in transit.
- Some of your order is missing due to the box/packet opening in transit
Please contact us at hello@maritimemadness.com immediately if your items have arrived damaged or if something is missing. Submit photographic evidence of tampered items.
WHAT WE DO NOT COVER:
- Missing parcels or redelivery fees due to incorrect or incomplete address information provided by you
- Delays in transit
- Orders stuck in customs - we cannot be held responsible for customs delays or charges.
- Items that are returned to us for a refund or exchange that are not in a resalable condition
- If you requested items to be left outside your property and they go missing - this waives the right to any claim as per carrier terms and conditions
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR CLAIM:
If your parcel is lost or damaged, please contact us on hello@maritimemadness.com from the email address you used to place your order. Please provide:
- Description of your issue
- Photo evidence of damage
We will continue to track your parcel and should it appear, we request it be sent back to us at our expense.
By selecting Maritime Madness Shipping Protection, you agree to these terms.
This is our in-house protection policy.
Maritime Madness Shipping Protection is non refundable.
OUR POLICY FOR UNPROTECTED PARCELS:
We will follow the claims policy with your courier to either locate your parcel or deem it as lost. This may take 6-8 weeks and is at the discretion of the courier.
If your parcel has a GPS location or photographic evidence that it has been delivered to your property, is with a neighbour or at a secure location, we are not responsible for a refund or replacement.

Product and Company Questions
What is the expiry date on my sauce?
What is the expiry date on my sauce?
We have a 3 year best before date on our sauces, but even then, they are not expired from a food safety point of view. Our sauces all have a ph well below 4.0, and are tested on a per batch basis. The flavor actually improves greatly as the sauce matures, so when we find an older bottle we are always excited! Sauces can of course fade in color and settle, but this does not affect flavor or food safety. Just give it a shake and you're good to go!
Of course food safety is paramount, and we have always featured batch traceability with our batch codes that are unique to every production run. We can trace the day, month, and specific cooker batch of each and every bottle.
Do I need to refrigerate my sauce once opened?
Do I need to refrigerate my sauce once opened?
We do recommend refrigeration once open. However our sauces all have a very low ph, which means they are generally quite stable. If you have as many hot sauces as I do, they might not all fit in the fridge, and if you choose to keep them in the pantry, there's probably no harm in that.
Do you use a co-packer, or do you make your sauces?
Do you use a co-packer, or do you make your sauces?
We make everything in-house right here in PEI, Canada. From recipe development to shipping to your doorstep, we do every part of the process ourselves to ensure you get the best product and the best service experience possible.
No co-packers - No fulfillment centers - No remote customer service reps.
Call or e-mail us, you're talking to the team that designs it, makes it, and ships it!
What is the Scoville rating of the sauce i just bought?
What is the Scoville rating of the sauce i just bought?
Because every fresh pepper varies in heat, every batch of sauce is different in heat level, even if the recipe isn't changed. When a company gets a Scoville test done for one batch of sauce, then claims that heat level for years to come, the only thing that's guaranteed is that it is NOT accurate. It's either milder or hotter, but statistically improbable to be that exact heat level again.
Tests run on Tabasco sauce can range from 2,000 to 5,000 SHU's per bottle, that's a variance of up to 250% in the single classic sauce, and it's totally normal depending on crop conditions.
We use our own heat rating system as a loose guide to let you know what kind of heat you're getting into. A 4 on our heat scale is relatively close to a Frank's Red Hot for heat.
Why do some bottles look or taste different than my last one?
Why do some bottles look or taste different than my last one?
It's perfectly normal for a bottle to be brighter in color, hotter, milder, less or more garlicky - it's the nature of a natural product made from produce!
Growing conditions change all the time - days of sunlight, how much rain fell that season, if wind stressed the plants, all these factors change the produce. Every now and then the onions you're cutting just seem extra strong, right? It's not in your head, that's an extra flavourful and potent bag of onions, likely from the same supplier as last time.
Common variances are:
Heat Level of peppers
Depth of color in peppers
Fleshiness of peppers (affects sauce thickness even if same weight is added to recipe)
Potency of garlic, onion
Sweetness of carrots, onions, peppers, berries
We understand that our customers want the exact same sauce they loved last time, and strive to achieve it. We do our very best, but also embrace the variance in beautiful natural produce that we create our sauces with - it's part of the exciting world of flavours and food!

We've had your beef jerky, why can't we buy it online?
We've had your beef jerky, why can't we buy it online?
WE KNOW, IT SUCKS. There is only one federally inspected beef plant in PEI, and they are the only company that is able to export meat out of the province.
You'll just have to stock up (or get your friend to stock up for you) next time you're on the Island!
Do I need to cut he cap off for the sauce to come out?
Do I need to cut he cap off for the sauce to come out?
Yes, and this was intentional! Some people like a fine hole for precise application, some like a larger one to really load on the flavour. Simply cut the tip at your desired location with a pair of scissors for perfect sauce delivery!
